After acquiring Activision Blizzard, Xbox is changing its approach to managing its studios. An internal memo shared by Phil Spencer (via The Verge) reveals that Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studios, will now have increased responsibility for certain studios. He has been elevated to the role of President of Content and Studios, overseeing ZeniMax and its subsidiaries, such as Bethesda Softworks.

ZeniMax will still function as a limited integration entity managed by its President and CEO, Jamie Leder, who will now report to Booty. Several ZeniMax leaders will report to Microsoft leaders connected to their work. Initially, Xbox had been relatively hands-off with its bought studios, allowing them to manage their projects independently. However, certain mishaps have led Xbox to take a more careful approach to its studio management.
